Frequently asked questions about Airclos Aluminium Systems

Your questions about aluminium enclosure systems answered

Lateral enclosures and climate control

Does Airclos also offer lateral enclosures?

Yes. In many projects, retractable roofs are combined with vertical enclosures to complete comfort and the day‑to‑day operation of the space—always according to need and architecture.

What needs to be defined for a space to work 365 days a year?

Three things: real use (hospitality, residential, people flow), local climate and the ventilation/shading strategy. From there, the combination of roof and enclosures is defined.

Are enclosures mandatory with a retractable roof?

Not always. It depends on the goal: some projects mainly seek overhead protection, while others require a more complete closure to ensure comfort in colder or windier periods.

Roof access hatches

What is a roof access hatch?

It is a roof element that allows safe access to rooftops or technical terraces and/or brings in natural light. At Airclos it is approached as an architectural solution, not a standard “hatch”.

When does it make sense to install a roof access hatch?

When the building needs clean and safe access to a flat roof (maintenance, terrace, equipment) or when additional natural light is required from the roof.

Can it be integrated with waterproofing and roof finishes?

Roof integration is part of the project approach. To define specific details and compatibilities, we review it with the technical team according to the existing roof build‑up.

Price, lead times and regulations

Do you have indicative pricing?

Each project is made to measure, so price depends on dimensions, configuration, finishes and country. With your location and approximate dimensions, we can provide guidance and connect you with the right team/partner.

What is the manufacturing and installation lead time?

It depends on the system, complexity and country. With the location and type of solution, we can confirm estimated lead times and coordinate installation with the partner.

Does it comply with regulations and permits?

Requirements vary by country and project. To confirm regulations, certifications or specific requirements, we review it with the technical/commercial team according to the location and the building use.

Choosing the right system

Which system suits me: retractable roof, bi-fold doors or guillotine window?

It depends on the main objective: protecting and extending the season (retractable roof), fully opening a façade (bi‑fold doors) or creating a vertical, service‑oriented opening like a bar/servery (guillotine window). Many projects combine them.

How do I start if I am in the design phase (architect/specifier)?

Ideally, define how the space will be used, site constraints and the architectural language. With an initial approach (sketches or drawings and photos), the team can recommend the best solution and prepare documentation for specification.

How do I start if I am in hospitality (owner/operator)?

Tell us the challenge: seasonality, wind/rain, noise, guest experience and operations. With location and approximate dimensions, we propose a solution approach and the next step with the local partner.
