Acoustic laminated glass consists of two sheets of glass assembled with the aid of 2 or more interlayers of ‘acoustic’ polyvinyl butyral (PVB). These layers are specially designed to reinforce acoustic insulation.
In addition to acoustic laminated glass, insulating glass is also available. This is composed of an exterior acoustic laminated glass, an inner space, and a second interior glass that is also laminated.
If further insulation is required, the number of acoustic PVB sheets can be increased and the gas mixture in the vacuum space can be adjusted as required.
For example, the main objective of the SF6 is to improve acoustic insulation by reducing approximately 3 dB.
Acoustic glass properties
Acoustic glass greatly reduces sound transmission between the outside and inside of the glass.
